As a data point. Third time, I think, renewing by mail. Mail in pistol permit renewal turnaround time was about 15 days. Some notes and comments:

Permit renewal notice received 1-22-23.

New forms: DPS-769 (Rev. 11/14/2022) and DPS-129-C (Rev. 11/14/2022)

Took own passport photo against a light colored wall using digital camera. Cropped photo using a free Android phone app. Printed out one 4x6 print at local CVS for $0.39. Cut out one of the passport sized photos and taped it (using clear tape) to DPS-129-C form in box indicated.

DPS-129 indicated only notarize if information was changed on form. No longer a notarization section on DPS-129 form (that I received).

Directions no longer ask one to include self addressed stamped envelope for return mailing of renewed pistol permit.

No notarization of DPS-129-C form since permit info on that form was not changed. If one changes the info then they are directed to have the DPS-129-C form notarized and signed in the presence of a notary.

Copied passport (the page in the passport with photo and identifying info) and included it with returned renewal mailing.

Renewal fee: $70

Mailed back renewal on 1-25-23 using forever stamp ($0.63).

Received new permit on 2/10/23.

Approx. 15 day turnaround.

New permit, as many others have indicated, is no longer laminated, like earlier permits were. Will get an ID card holder protector or laminate the permit at some point to protect the permit ink from being rubbed off which is a very common problem since around 2020.

Perhaps I'm missing something but form 129 appears to indicate notarization is required for mail in renewals.

FORM MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY:
1. Proof of legal and lawful presence in the United States: Copy of U.S. Passport, Birth Certificate, or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued permanent residence identification/documentation.
2. $70.00 Fee (Check or money order payable to "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"). DO NOT SEND CASH.
3. Copy of valid photo identification if providing a birth certificate as proof of legal and lawful presence in the United States.
4. Notarization ONLY if renewing by mail.

It says "must be accompanied by" and "notarization only if renewing by mail."  Nothing about notarizing only if your info has changed.

Note what my post indicated: "New forms: DPS-769 (Rev. 11/14/2022) and DPS-129-C (Rev. 11/14/2022)"

My renewal had new forms. Forms that are different (newer) than what are currently available on the SLFU website. Forms that had different directions than previous forms. The DPS-129-C form was missing the notarization section that previous version of that form had. My permit WAS renewed without the DPS-129-C being notarized.

See scanned (redacted) images attached for the forms that came with my renewal notice. Red arrows on the DPS-129-C form highlight form revision date, different directions, and missing notarization areas that are different than the previous version of the DPS-129-C form.

Got it. Thanks for the info. I could not find the new forms online and that's what confused me. I guess we have to wait and get the new form with the renewal letter.

LaMont's way to discourage people from renewing there Pistol Permit. Typical democrat run state as we all know they are gun hating traitors to our 2nd Amendment rights.
