Cite please, or is this an opinion?

“People need to know that wearing masks can reduce transmission of the virus by as much as 50 percent, and those who refuse are putting their lives, their families, their friends, and their communities at risk.”

It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance. - Thomas Sowell

Peer reviewed is gonna take a while. Most of the time academics are too busy working on their own projects so they don't have a lot of time to review other academic papers and studies.

It's common knowledge that masks curb the spread of respiratory illnesses. You're limiting the distance the virus can travel when you talk or cough. It won't make you invincible but, combined with other things like keeping your distance and washing your hands it'll lower your odds of getting sick drastically. Refusing to wear a mask because it won't guarantee that you won't get sick is like refusing to wear a seatbelt because it won't guarantee you're safety in a car crash. A seatbelt still drastically reduces your odds of dying but you need to combine it with other factors such as not speeding, driving sober, etc. to lower your chances of dying.

Peer reviewed, a.k.a. "my friends approve"

Not exactly groundbreaking, but worth reading and paying attention to.

This is the defacto medical peer review platform, that's what a peer review really is- open, science-based discourse. It takes years for publications to gain nearly-universal acceptance.

Science-based? That's hilarious. Maybe in some places, but after all the shit I've seen uncovered of academics over the last few years, I'm convinced the peer review process just as corrupt as any other system. Which is to say, thoroughly.

Peer review means almost nothing anymore.  For the past 60 years I have observed integrity decline, and lying be increasingly accepted.
